Our ports in the Schengen zone

A ceremony marking Poland’s accession to the Schengen Agreement took place on 21st December 2007 at a ferry terminal in Swinoujscie. With the accession, ports in Szczecin and Swinoujscie ceased to operate on the outer EU border, and consequently border control for passengers traveling to Denmark and Sweden was abolished since now those countries belong to the Schengen Agreement.

Meeting of the ABL Project Consortium

ADRIATIC - BALTIC LANDBRIDGE: a project financed from Community Initiative INTERREG III B CADSES; includes 23 countries from Central Europe. Duration of the project is a year and a half (July 2006 - February 2007). Available budget: 2.5 MEUR.

Presentation of ports and companies of the Zachodniopomorskie Region in Wroclaw

A presentation of ‘Ports in Szczecin and Swinoujscie as gateways to the world for the Lower Silesia’ was held in the Radisson Hotel in Wroclaw on 23rd October 2007. The purpose of the presentation was to show the capacity of the ports.

New ferry on the route Swinoujscie - Ystad

Szczecin based company Euroafrica purchased a ferry of 158 m long and 22 m wide. Its rail deck has 650 m of rails, whereas the upper deck’s capacity enables to transport 17 truck sets.

New line services from Swinoujscie

Dutch shipowner of Spliethoff decided to launch two line services from the port of Swinoujscie: Caribbean Service to ports of the Caribbean Sea, eastern coast of the Central America and northern coast of the Southern America as well as America Service to ports of eastern coast of the USA and the Gulf of Mexico.

Baltic ro-ro and ferry conference 2007

Transport sector specialists discussed the future of transport in the Baltic Sea region during ‘Baltic ro-ro and ferry conference 2007’ organised in the Pomeranian Dukes’ Castle in Szczecin on 17-18 October 2007.

Representatives of the Szczecin and Swinoujscie Seaports Authority at the fair in Brno

Representatives of the Ports Authority, headed by Mr. Janusz Catewicz, CEO, and Mr. Piotr Jania, Deputy CEO, participated in the fourth International Transport and Logistic Fair in Brno on 1st to 5th October 2007. The Fair was organized together with the 49th Industrial Fair.

Seatrade Europe

The Szczecin and Swinoujscie Ports Authority participated in the international fair Seatrade Europe, held in Hamburg on 25-27 September. The fair attracted 270 exhibitors from over 50 countries.

The Prime Minister confirms construction of a breakwater

The Cabinet was in session today. Concerning current matters, the Minister of Maritime Economy Marek Grobarczyk submitted a resolution concerning registration in the long-term program of investments financed by the state budget, construction of a breakwater (external port) in Swinoujscie.

New ferry on the Swinoujscie-Trelleborg route

A new ferry will begin operation on the Swinoujscie-Trelleborg route in October.
