The Seventeenth Herring Meeting

Already for the seventeenth time representatives of the maritime sector enjoyed an opportunity to meet during the 2012 Herring-Szczecin Meeting. On 18th May, at the International Szczecin Fairs, nearly 2 thousand people gathered representing companies of the maritime sector. An honorary patronage over the Herring-Szczecin 2012 was assumed by Sławomir Nowak, the Minister of Transport, Building and Maritime Economy, and Piotr Krzystek, the Mayor of Szczecin. On behalf of the minister, Anna Wypych - Namiotko, the Undersecretary of State, attended the meeting.

The May weekend with the first sea-going cruiser this season

Cruiser m/v MSC Lirica, which called at Świnoujście on 2 May 2012, started this year's cruiser season. The vessel is 251 m in length and it is the largest cruiser ever visiting the Szczecin-Świnoujście Port Complex. The cruiser's may carry 2200 passengers 700 crew members on board. This time German passengers will prevail.

A new container terminal officially open in Szczecin

On 16.04.2012, at the Fińskie Quay in the Szczecin Seaport, a ceremony was held to officially open a new container terminal. The event was hosted by DB Port Szczecin, the operator of the terminal and at the same time one of cargo handling companies in the Szczecin Seaport, and DB Schenker Rail Polska SA.

Representatives of the Port of Ystad in Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority

On 10.04.12, the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority hosted a meeting with representatives of the Port of Ystad. The meeting was a part of a study trip to ports on the Baltic Sea. The Swedish delegation included members of the Board and managing directors of the Port as well as representatives of the City of Ystad.

While fighting for every tonne of cargo to be handled in the ports of Szczecin and Świnoujście and striving for a better competitive position of out ports, the management of the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority has remained socially responsible. For this reason, every year, we are involved in various charity events in the region. One of the most important of them is the Final of the Great Christmas Aid Orchestra.
