Szczecin-Świnoujście Seaport at SpeedCHAIN Conference

The Port of Szczecin-Świnoujście had its presentation during the 8th International Logistic Conference SpeedCHAIN 2013 in Prague.

The conference was held on 13-14 November this year. Its main theme was ‘Logistics - a Catalyst for Change’.  The agenda of the conference included topics related to latest trends in transport, logistics and industry. The conference attracted both logistic practitioners as well as public institutions and scientists.

During the conference, the Port of Szczecin-Świnoujście presented to Czech attendees, mainly TSL companies, methods for adjusting the two ports to changing global trends observed in transport. Attention was drawn to activities accommodating the functioning of the ports to those trends, such as changes in the global fleet structure, containerization of transport, development of short sea shipping and intermodal transport, as well as growing significance of integrated systems of transport and legal regulations pertaining to environmental issues in transport.

Attendees of the conference could learn about advantages of the Szczecin-Świnoujście Seaports as regards opportunities for handling goods from the Czech Republic. For many years, transit transport to and from the Czech Republic going through Szczecin and Świnoujście has played an important role in cargo handling in the two ports. Potential and handling capacity of the ports enable servicing the entire Czech sea transit, both imports and exports. The favourable location of Szczecin and Świnoujście is also very important since these are the closest seaports for the main Czech industrial centres.

The range of services provided by the Szczecin-Świnoujście Seaports as presented during the SpeedCHAIN conference generated considerable interest among prospective clients. For this reason, the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority extended an invitation to Czech TSL companies to attend a study visit in the ports in spring next year.
